Steps to Make Honey Garlic Chicken Rice Bowl
Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine chopped garlic, sesame oil, honey, and low-sodium soy sauce (or swap out for white vinegar). For a thicker glaze, mix in corn starch. For an added flavor boost, toss in some grated ginger.
Marinate the Chicken: Coat the chicken cubes evenly with the marinade. Let them sit for about 5 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
Prepare the Vegetables: While the chicken cooks, steam or blanch the bok choy until tender but still crisp.
Cook the Chicken:
Using an Air Fryer: Place the marinated chicken in the air fryer and cook at 180°C for 8-10 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Using a Pan: Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and fully cooked.
Assemble Your Bowl: Start with a base of cooked rice, then add the steamed bok choy and honey garlic chicken.
Finish with Toppings: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately and enjoy!
BITE OF THE DAY: This dish is packed with protein from the chicken and vitamins from the bok choy, making it a balanced and satisfying meal. The honey garlic glaze delivers natural sweetness and flavor, reducing the need for extra salt or sauces.
